Leroy E. Baker, 73, of Holts Summit, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born May 2, 1938, in New Bloomfield, the son of Letch and Delpha (Brown) Baker. Leroy was a very social person who could often be found helping his friends and neighbors or stirring the pot at local coffee hangouts. He enjoyed wood working and taking on little projects along with spending time with his family. He was employed by Sprint for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He will be fondly remembered by one son, Troy Baker of New Bloomfield; one daughter, Shari Ragar and husband D. L. of New Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Jeremy Wilder and wife Laura of Fulton, Karlee Wilder of Key West, Fla., Cameron Baker of New Bloomfield, Shelbey Baker of New Bloomfield, Paige Ragar of New Bloomfield and Brian Wilder of Jefferson City; one sister, Elsie Jones and husband Jack of Monroe City. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ernest Baker; and two sisters, Lorena and Leona Baker. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit with Reverend Jim Shaver and Reverend Rick Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
