Kathryn LeCuru

Kathryn "Kathy, Kate" Sue (Sandbothe) LeCuru, age 55, of Taos, peacefully passed away Friday, December 23, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 15, 1956, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Edward and Alma Renkemeyer Sandbothe. On May 17, 1975, she married her best friend, Mark LeCuru, who survives at home. She attended St. Francis Xavier School and was a 1974 graduate of Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville. She spent the first years of her married life as a homemaker, raising her children. She then worked for nearly 28 years at the Department of Revenue with complex motor vehicle title cases. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family on the Osage River. She loved history and enjoyed touring Civil War mansions. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially the two joys of her life, her two grandsons. To know her was to love her. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark and their two children: Kevin LeCuru (Bonnots Mill) and Tanya Pleus, husband Alan (Taos); two grandchildren: Cody and Bo Pleus; seven siblings: Jane Schaben, husband Fulton (Westphalia), Fred Sandbothe, wife Lisa (Folk), Kenny Sandbothe, wife Shelle (Taos), Deb Klebba, husband Rick (Osage Bend), Donna Koelling, husband Bruce (Osage Bend), Jerry Sandbothe (Taos), Luke Sandbothe, wife Jennifer (Taos); mother-in-law: Elsie LeCuru (Jefferson City); three sisters-in-law: Donna Dickey (Taos), Lisa Norment, husband Gary (Taos), Kristy Strope, husband Gary (Taos); four brothers-in-law: Alan LeCuru, wife Phyllis (Wardsville), Keith LeCuru, wife Rhonda (Taos), Eric LeCuru, wife Bonnie (Wardsville), Scott LeCuru and his friend Tammy Morgan (Taos); 18 nephews: Ben Schaben, Steven Sandbothe, Aaron Sandbothe, Josh Sandbothe, Erik Klebba, Joshua Klebba, Blake Koelling, Brett Sandbothe, Kail Sandbothe, Steel Sandbothe, Todd Siebeneck, Blake Siebeneck, Brian LeCuru, Cory LeCuru, Dane Norment, Zachary LeCuru, Colby LeCuru, Dylan LeCuru; 19 nieces: Keri Talken, Christian Sandbothe, Mary Beth Sandbothe, Jammie Sandbothe, Molly Klebba, Emily Koelling, Grace Sandbothe, Aubrey Sandbothe, Sarah Sandbothe, Shannon Siebeneck, Kim LeCuru, Ashley LeCuru, Jenna LeCuru, Kaylie LeCuru, Dara Denny, Lindsey LeCuru, Shelby LeCuru, Taylor Strope, Paige Strope; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Sandbothe; two infant siblings, Steven and Ann Sandbothe; father-in-law, Urban LeCuru; two brothers-in-law, Warren LeCuru and Les Dickey; one nephew, Aaron LeCuru; her maternal grandparents, Leo and Teresa Renkemeyer; and paternal grandparents, Ben and Lena Sandbothe. She also held a special place in her heart for her "adopted" children: Jennifer Bruns, husband Darryl (Taos), Kurt Denny, wife Dara (Taos), Dewayne Meisel (Jefferson City), Shawn Herigon, wife Julie (Wardsville), and Glenn Robinson, wife Renee (Westphalia). Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taos with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow in the Cadet Creek Cemetery in Bonnots Mill. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School or St. Jude's Miracle Network.
