Aruna Peters, 54, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1957, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa, a son of Salaami Adeke and Nafisatu Ajara Peters. Aruna was a former employee of RR Donnelly, where he was a web bundler for over 10 years. Aruna is survived by two sons, Abdul Salaam Peters and Tejan Peters; sisters, Ilara Wilson (Samuel), Alima Cole (Abdulai), Husainatu Din-Gabisi ( Bouraan) and Shuai Sharpe (Raymond); brothers, Omar Tejan ( Nadia), Unusa Deen (Aisha) and Haroun Kamara (Edith); nephews, Dennis O.Z. Perkins, Myllan, Ismail, Hakeem, Imran, Emmanuel and Joseph; nieces, Mariatu, Khadija, Claudette, Zaryn, Sally and Malaika; cousins, Afiz, Sallu, Nasiru, Ibu, Salma and Makieu; aunt, Madina Tejan, grandfather, Abu Tejan Savage; and close friends, Dan Beene and members of the Sierra Leone Association of Jefferson City. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Namaz-e Janaza (Burial prayers) will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Islamic Center of Central Missouri Mosque, 5123 Moreau Ridge Road, Jefferson City. Traditional Islamic burial will follow in the mosque cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Aruna Peters Children's Fund.
