Lula L. Reithmeyer, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012, at her home. She was born March 2, 1932, in Henrietta, Mo., the only child of the late Milton T. and Mary M. (Siebern) Bruce. Lula was a descendant of the Bruce clan of Scotland. She graduated from Chamois High School in Chamois, Mo. and attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Mo. On February 9, 1952, she was united in marriage in Chamois, Mo., to W. Lawrence Reithmeyer, who preceded her in death on May 21, 2001. She spent her adult life in the Jefferson City area. She worked with IBM equipment and computers in offices of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Tweedies and Stover Carpet, before retiring from the Office of Administration/State Personnel. Lou loved many types of music. She accompanied many groups during high school, as well as being in the Music Makers Swing Orchestra. She was the organist in her home church at St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois. She was a member of Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City, where she helped with the youth group. She taught the Junior Department of Sunday School for over thirty years. She held several offices of the Elenor Circle and served as President of their Women's Fellowship. She also helped with the Meals on Wheels program. Working on cloth crafty handiwork was a favorite, and she created many quilts for her family. She is survived by four daughters: Deborah Burke (husband Ken) of Lee's Summit, Mo.; Deann Conroy (husband Scott) of Aurora, Colo.; Darla Strecker (husband Bill) of Lake St. Louis, Mo.; Dana Carnes (husband David) of Washington, D.C.; and two granddaughters: Ashley Conroy and Melissa Conroy. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Central United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at the Central United Church of Christ, with Dr. Stephen H. Buchholz officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Elenor Circle at Central United Church of Christ, 118 W. Ashley St., Jefferson City, MO 65101.
