Herbert "Kak" Cooper Jr., 84, of Jefferson City, passed away, Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Heisinger Bluffs Care Center. He was born July 25, 1927, in Willow Springs, Missouri, the son of the late Herbert Willis Cooper and Pearl Cox. On July 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ruth A. Grogan, who survives at the home. Herbert graduated from Willow Springs High School. He served with the United States Army Air Corp. He retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Herbert was a member Ingomar Lodge #536 AF/AM in Willow Springs Missouri, Abou/Ben Adam Shrine in Springfield, Missouri and a member of First Baptist Church, Willow Springs. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and golf. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising beef cattle but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth A Cooper; two daughters: Carolyn Fortner and husband Roger of Knob Noster, Missouri and Becky Anderson and husband Rodney of California, Missouri; one grandson: Kyle Anderson and wife Jana of Holts Summit; one sister: Lucille Prera of the State of California; one brother: Jerry Cooper of Eminence, Missouri and his step-mother Virginia Cooper of Eminence, Missouri as well as many other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson: Aaron Kak Fortner; one granddaughter: Abby Lea Fortner; four brothers: Jack, Dean, Terry and Cleal Cooper; and one sister: Lorene Wyrick. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Heisinger Bluffs Chapel, 1002 West Main Street in Jefferson City. Funeral Service with full military honors will follow at the Heisinger Bluffs Chapel with Rev. Bruce Gardner, Chaplain Hospice Compasses officiating. Masonic graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday February 15, 2012, at Willow Springs Cemetery in Willow Springs, Missouri.
