Clarence August Kempker

Clarence August Kempker, age 90, of Mexico, passed away, Monday, December 24, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico. Visitation is Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at Arnold Funeral Home with a prayer service immediately following officiated by Fr. David Veit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico with Fr. Mark Porterfield officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Loose Creek. Clarence was born December 24, 1922, in Folk, Mo., the son of Henry and Gesina (Toebben) Kempker. On April 23, 1946, in Taos, he married Gertrude Mary Brand. She preceded him in death April 1, 1999. Mr. Kempker was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for many years at the brick plant in Mexico, Mo. He was a skilled carpenter. Clarence enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking & being with family. Survivors include four brothers, Edward Kempker of Mexico, Wilfred Kempker of Westphalia, Joseph Kempker of Bonnets Mill and Bernard Kempker of Westphalia; three sisters, Vernita Woehr of Westphalia, Angeline Maassen of Jefferson City and Genny Rose Glawson of Holts Summit and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Gertrude, Clarence was preceded in death by six brothers, Raymond, Melvin, Lawrence, Sylvester, Harry and Herbert Kempker.
