Roy Dean Vandelich

Roy Dean Vandelich Sr., 81, formerly of Fulton, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012. He was born August 12, 1931, in Fulton, the son of Roy S. and Geraldine (Crowson) Vandelicht. On August 24, 1954, Roy was united in marriage to Barbara Anne Schmidt in Elwood, Ind. She preceded him in death on January 27, 1996. Roy was a graduate of Fulton High School class of 1951. Roy proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the Missouri National Guard 175th MP Battalion. Roy retired from A.P. Green in Fulton. He was an active member of many community and civic organizations. He was the first president of the Fulton High School Band Boosters. He was also a founding member of the Fulton Evening Optimist Club. He served on the Callaway County Ambulance Board for many years as well as the Fulton Parks and Recreation Board. He was a member of the Fulton Lodge 48 A.F. & A.M., and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 35. He was also a member of VFW Post 2657, the American Legion, and the Eagles. Roy was very active in the lives and activities of his children and grandchildren. He coached little league baseball for many years, was a Cub Scout leader, member of the Fulton High Athletic Boosters, and rarely missed a musical performance or athletic event of his children and grandchildren in high school or college. His memory will be cherished by his life companion, Enid Woods of Sunrise Beach; son, Skip Vandelicht and his wife Melody of Fayette; daughter, Ginny of Fulton; grandchildren, Adrian (Bryan) Newell, Matthew (Jennifer) Vandelicht, all of Fayette, and Anne Vandelicht of Fulton; great-grandchildren, Addison, Caden, Chase, Drew, and Peyton of Fayette; sisters, Evah Le Creed of Fulton and Callie Sullivan of Portland, Ore.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife, Roy was preceded in death by his sister, Imelda Blount. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Rick White officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Roy's name to Ozark Chapel Methodist Church, VFW Post 2657, or Hospice Compassus of Osage Beach, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
