Carol M. Stegeman, 68, of Centertown, Mo., passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born on January 17, 1944, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Clarence J. and Julia M. (Rotter) Backes whom both preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on August 18, 1962, at the Frankenstein Catholic Church to Richard H. Stegeman who survives of the home. Carol was a 1962 graduate of Fatima High School. She was a bookkeeper for their family Charcoal business and a Dietary Supervisor at St. Mary's Hospital for 12 years and also at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Carol enjoyed quilting, taking care of flowers and bird watching. She is survived by two sons, Michael John Stegeman and wife Carla of Centertown, Mo., and Daniel Raymond Stegeman and friend Virgil Dowell of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Donna Catherine Swyers and husband Bryan of Loose Creek, Mo.; two sisters, Shirley Eichholz and husband Jerry of Bonnots Mill, Mo. and Helen Veltrop and husband Tom of Jefferson City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Martin Kremer. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Inurnment will be at a later date. Officiating will be Father David Maher. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. with a rosary at 1:30, all at the funeral home.
