William Guy Mullett

William Guy Mullett, 86, of Pilot Grove, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. He was born July 4, 1926, in Springfield, Mo. to William Clarence and Nellie Lusk Mullett. He was married to Louise Williams on August 2, 1953, in Stover, Mo. William was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. During WW II, he served in the European Theatre with the 745th Tank Battalion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He then farmed in Cooper County until losing his sight around 1980. He was a member of the American Legion, served as Deacon of his church, and was the former President of the Pilot Grove Cemetery Association. He was also a member of the Wallace Lodge # 456. Survivors include his wife Louise of the home; his sons, Mike (Coralee) Mullett of Boonville and Jeff (Donna) Mullett of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Storm Mullett, Matthew James Orf, Jessica (James) Vollmer, Jared (April) Mullett and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Mullett will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pilot Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. Memorials are suggested to the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri, or the memorial of your choice.
