Ruth Ann Martin, age 63, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully at her home. After a courageous 3 year battle with cancer, her fight was lost on November 29, 2012. She was born on September 14, 1949, in Latham Mo. She was a Disabilities Counselor with the Department of Elementary & Secondary Ed, Vocational Rehabilitation for 28 years, until her retirement. She then worked part-time for Social Services hotline for four years. Ruth loved spending time with her family and many friends. She also loved ladybugs, working in the yard, playing bunko, crocheting, scrap-booking and other crafts. She was also very involved with her Church, lending her beautiful voice to the choir until she no longer was able. She is survived by her family: one son, Air Force Staff Sgt. Clifford Tyler Martin of Whiteman AFB; one daughter, Amanda Peyton Martin of Jefferson City; two grandsons, Clifford Drake and Graysen James; and three granddaughters, Sheena Marie, Shelby Cole, and Matilda Grace. They were the joy of her life. Ruth is also survived by her parents: James Milton and Marjorie Ruth Foley; and one brother, Bruce Foley, all of Overland Park, Kansas. A memorial service honoring Ruth will be held at the Community Christian Church on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with the visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. A private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice. Amanda and Tyler would like to thank everyone for all their care, love and support for their mom during the years of her illness. It was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
