Riley Michelle Hudson

Riley Michelle Hudson, age 9, of California, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the University of Missouri Children's Hospital in Columbia. She was born on July 10, 2003, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Jim and Tara (Turpin) Hudson, both of whom survive in California. Riley attended Cole County R-1 in Russellville where she would have started the fourth grade. She was a member of the Red Rockerz Volleyball team in Jefferson City and the Bartlett and West Softball team in California. Riley enjoyed being around anything with a motor, she loved watching dirt track racing, NASCAR, especially at Talladega, taking four wheeler rides and was one of the biggest Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans. She loved singing and listening to country music and was getting ready to learn how to play Grandpa Turp's guitar. She also loved spending time with her grandparents. In addition to her parents, she is survived by: her maternal grandparents, Terry Turpin, Jefferson City, and Athena (Tina) Cunningham, Hartsburg; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Brenda Jaco, Otterville, and Shirley and Chris Hughes, Centertown; maternal great-grandparents, Billy Jo Cunningham, Anabel, Norma Cunningham, Columbia, and Dorothy Turpin, Jefferson City; paternal great-grandparents, Dorothy and Ken Wilfong, Otterville; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Albert and Juanita Shane, and Junior Jaco; and her maternal great-grandpa, Wilson (Turp) Turpin. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Riley Michelle Hudson Memorial Fund to sponsor Race Kid of the night at Double X Speedway for 2013 Season and radios for the University of Missouri Children's Hospital, c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, 100 S. Oak, California, MO 65018. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
