Carl W. Thomas, age 92, of Hartsburg, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012, at the Neighborhoods by Tiger Place. He was born May 24, 1920, the son of Arthur C. and Emelia E. Stuemps Thomas. He married Marjorie Buescher on June 1, 1947, in Hartsburg and she preceded him in death. Carl worked as a photographer for the Missouri Division of Employment Security. He served the Army Air Corp and was a member of the Hartsburg Baptist Church, Hartsburg American Legion Post #424. He served as Hartsburg Town Clerk for 50 years and was on the Planned Progress Committee. He was a member of the Southern Boone County Volunteer Fire Department. Carl was past chief of the Hartsburg fire department and was involved in many organizations in the community. Survivors include: one daughter, Rebecca Kropf of Seneca, Mo.; one sister, Rosalee Higgins of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Hasegawa and husband David, Jason Thomas and wife Sarah, Sarah Neet and husband Aaron, Michelle Pizzo and husband Vincent; one step-great-grandson, Gabriel Neet. He was also preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Shirley Thomas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Hartsburg Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, from 4-6 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hartsburg Baptist Church or Hartsburg American Legion Post 424 in care of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland, Mo.
