Raymond Herman Twehus, age 72, of New Bloomfield, died Thursday, August 16, 2012, at his home. He was born May 30, 1940, in St. Elizabeth, son of the late William Twehus Sr. and Ludmilla (Boessen) Twehus. He attended St. Elizabeth R-4 School in St. Elizabeth. Ray was married June 17, 1961, in Meta, to Mildred "Millie" Werdehausen, who preceded him in death on June 18, 2001. He worked for Cole County Industries for 38 years until his retirement. Ray enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed time spent with his brothers and the rest of the family at the home place in St. Elizabeth. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and American Legion. Ray is survived by two children: Terry Twehus of St. Elizabeth, and Lori Twehus (Chris Cave) of New Bloomfield; three grandchildren: Samantha Twehus, Ryan Cave, Tabitha Twehus; five brothers: Joe (Lenora) Twehus of Jefferson City, Jim (Annie) Twehus of Jefferson City, William (Judy) Twehus Jr. of Holts Summit, Alfred (Debbie) Twehus of St. Martins, Bernie Twehus of Jefferson City; four sisters: Mary (John) Schaefer of Jefferson City, Linda (Don) Colter of Jefferson City, Betty (Ray) Boes of Jefferson City, Janet (Dennis) Davidson of Hartsburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and his loyal dog, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Harold and John Twehus. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church with Fr. Austin Okoli officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Paws for the Cause (Susan G.
