Esther A. Case

Mrs. Esther A. Case, age 76 years, of Hartsburg, Mo., died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at University Hospital, Columbia, Mo. Esther was born July 12, 1936 in Lohman, Mo., the daughter of Frederick L. and Bertha C. Strobel Fluegel. She was married on February 14, 1960, in Lohman, Mo., to Elliott Gordon Case Jr. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Esther graduated from Russellville High School, Russellville, Mo. Esther was employed with Family Benefit Life Insurance Company for 20 years prior to her retirement in 2009. A homemaker, Gordon and Esther also operated a dairy farm in Callaway County. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Mid-America Dairymen's Assn. She enjoyed gardening, baking, fishing and was active with the Cedar City Lions Club. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Elliott Gordon Case Jr.; three daughters, Jacqueline Forck of Osage City, Mo., Connie Voelker and her husband Jerry of Fenton, Mo., and Clara Haenchen and her husband William of Hartsburg, Mo.; one son, Michael Case and his wife Esther of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Justin Forck and Kim Plaster, Nicholas Voelker, Lucas Voelker, Jacob Haenchen, Emma Haenchen, and Benjamin Case; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Plaster-Forck; two brothers, Roy Fluegel and his wife Margie of Jefferson City, Mo. and Oscar Fluegel and his wife Ramona of Centertown, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Elsie Fluegel of Russellville, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Joshua Forck; two brothers, Edgar Fluegel and Walter Fluegel; and one sister-in-law, Lydia Fluegel. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Scott Musselman officiating. Interment will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lohman, Mo. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery Assn., or the charity of their choice.
