Agnes S. Wylie, age 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Adams Street Place. Agnes was born June 21, 1923, in Maplewood, the daughter of William and Anna (Gorecki) Schulz. She was married to J. E. (John) Wylie for 55 years. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Agriculture in 1944. She was a resident of the Jefferson City area since 1958 when her husband received a promotion while working for the Department of Conservation. She worked briefly for the Missouri Department of Agriculture in Jefferson City until J.E. returned from World War II service in the Merchant Marine in 1946. They lived in Corvallis, Oregon while J.E. went to forestry school at Oregon State University, then they moved to Warrenton, Missouri, when J.E. began his 35+ year career with the Missouri Department of Conservation. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Agnes was active in the Missouri Conservation Commission Wives association for many years, Audubon Society, Eagle Days and many other activities in support of the conservation and awareness of Missouri's flora and fauna. She is survived by her five sons: Paul (Sherry) of Allegan, Michigan, Mark (Jeanne) of Orlando, Bruce (Cathy) of Jefferson City, Glenn (Jeanette) of Vacaville, California, and David (Lisa) of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Nell Fallis of Dallas and Mary Decker of Rolla. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Bill Schulz, and sister, Aline Cunningham. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. David Henry officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, 324 Madison, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
