Mrs. Ellen "Gay" Mantle, age 76 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at her home. Gay was born July 20, 1936, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Paul and Caroline Nilges Allen. She was married on May 2, 1959, in Westphalia, Mo., to Howard Mantle. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Gay was a 1954 graduate of Fatima High School, Westphalia, Mo. She had been employed with State Farm Insurance, J.C. Penneys, and St. Mary's Health Center. Gay was also employed with Scholastic, Inc. for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1998. Gay enjoyed traveling, shopping, sewing, fishing, and bingo. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Howard Mantle; two sons, Mark Mantle and his wife Lena of Jefferson City, Mo. and Greg Mantle and his wife Lori of Ashland, Mo.; two daughters, Janet Lueckenhoff and her husband Alan of Holts Summit, Mo. and Joyce Miloro and her husband Mark of Jefferson City, Mo.; three brothers, Charles Nelson Allen, Perry Allen, and Jim Allen; three sisters, Patty Eynard, Paula Carter, and Sally Gablesberger; nine grandchildren, Hannah Conley and her husband Richie, Paul Mantle, Emily Mantle, Justin Lueckenhoff and his wife Jackie, Christopher Lueckenhoff, Rachel Kinkade and her husband Tyler, Katie Falter and her husband John, Joseph Miloro, and Theresa Miloro; nine great-grandchildren, Shannon, Easton, and Carson Lueckenhoff, Faith and Rose Falter, Taylor and Riley Kinkade, Elaina Holland, and Clara Mae Conley due in December. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond Allen; one sister, Mary Lydon; and her father and mother-in law, Theron and Wilma Mantle. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 3, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Don Smith officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
