Stephen Lynn Vaughn

Stephen Lynn Vaughn, age 61, Paw Paw, Michigan, died on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at home with his wife, Theresa, and son, Wes at his side. Steve was born August 25, 1950, in Kirksville, Missouri, to George and Velma Vaughn. He earned his Bachelor of Science Social Science Degree (1972) and his Master of Arts in Counseling and Guidance (1973) from Northeast Missouri State University, located in Kirksville, Mo. He was a high school guidance counselor in Iowa, Montana and Michigan. At the time of his death, he had been the Guidance Counselor at Lawrence Public Schools in Lawrence, Michigan. On August 18, 1972, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Theresa Chacey, in Ollie, Iowa. To this union was born a son, Wes (Sandy). In addition to his wife and son, he is survived by his mother, Velma Vaughn of Green City, Mo.; sister, Valerie (Bert) Johnson and son, Jacob of Kirksville, Mo. (formerly of Jefferson City, Mo.) and in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, George; younger sister, Beverly and brother-in-law, Peter Arambasick. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Paw Paw, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the West Michigan Cancer Center, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, or the Van Buren District Library System, in Paw Paw , Michigan.
