Mary Ann Neuner 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at Adams Street Place after an illness of several months. She was born on September 9, 1926, in Freeburg, the sixth daughter of the late Theodore John and Elizabeth Marie (Lueckenhoff) Neuner. She was baptized September 11, 1926, at Holy Family Catholic Church and attended grade school and high school in Freeburg, graduating in 1944. After high school, Mary Ann moved to St. Louis where she spent her career working in the Consumer Finance and Data Services Industries. During her working career, she retained a deep appreciation for the quality education and work ethic she learned from the Sisters of Notre Dame. She had the opportunity to travel, which she enjoyed, to many cities throughout the states as part of her job responsibilities. She retired in 1992 from Primerica Corporation and returned to Jefferson City where she continued to make her home, close to her siblings and their families. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, IC Church Circle, and Daughters of Isabella. She was a devoted volunteer in the gift shop and later an ambassador of the Mended Hearts Program at St. Mary's Health Center from the time of retirement until shortly before her death. She served as President of the St. Mary's Health Center Auxiliary for two terms and on the St. Mary's Health Center Board of Directors. Mary Ann was a leader in the Auxiliary's fundraising endeavors for many years, particularly the annual Poinsettia Sale and the Ice Cream Social. Among her many interests, Mary Ann enjoyed reading and playing Scrabble. She was a champion of the St. Louis Cardinals and attended many games while she lived in St. Louis. She had a passion for "Jeopardy" and she could successfully work nearly all the N.Y. Times crossword puzzles, a hobby she loved. Survivors include: two sisters, Irene Neuner, Jefferson City, and Margaret "Marge" (Bill) Bose, Jefferson City; sister-in-law, Jeanette Neuner, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Hasenbeck and Loretta Neuner; a brother, Theodore Neuner; and an infant brother, Harry Neuner. In accordance with Mary Ann's wishes, her body had been donated to the St. Louis University Medical School. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating.
