Dorotha Lee Slevin, 89, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on December 7, 1922, in Carterville, Mo., the daughter of the late Dempsey and Nellie Herriford Bivens. She was a 1940 graduate of Carterville High School. She was united in marriage on October 8, 1944, in Columbus, Kan., to Donald J. Slevin who preceded her in death on March 7, 1997. A homemaker most of her life, Dorotha also worked as a beautician in Carterville, Webb City, and Versailles. She was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles and a current member of First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson City. Dorotha enjoyed the arts and painting. Survivors include: one daughter, Holly (Luke) Hodges, Jefferson City; one son, Patrick (Barbara) Slevin, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Cassie (Troy) Williams; Sasha ( Tommy) Volmert; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan Jay Volmert and Devin Michael Volmert. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Bivens. Private Graveside services will be held on Monday at Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
