Mary Castrop

Mary L. Castrop, age 76, of Jefferson City, formerly of Linn, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at her residence. Mary was born May 31, 1935, in Argyle a daughter to the late Frank and Lucille (Reinkemeyer) Schneider. Mary was a 1953 graduate of Fatima High School. On June 9, 1956, she was united in marriage to Henry "Hank" Castrop in Freeburg. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2006. Mary worked in the Osage County Clerk's office as a deputy for a number of years. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, and Osage County Democratic Club. Mary enjoyed working word puzzles. Mary is survived by: one son, Casey J. Castrop of Linn; one daughter, Kathy M. and her husband Mike Mantle of Linn; one brother, Charlie and his wife JoAnn Schneider of the State of Illinois; two sisters, Helen and her husband Ronnie Wankum of Jefferson City, and Ramona and her husband Edwin Poettgen of Ferguson, Mo.; four grandchildren, Mac (Erin), Kris (Amber), Morgan Mantle, and Cale Castrop; six great-grandchildren, Keegan, Rheygan, Riley, Makailyn, and Aayden Mantle, and Kaylee Jensen; one sister-in-law, Julieanna Luetkemeyer of Freeburg; two brothers-in-law, Daniel Castrop of El Reno, Okla., and Ferd Castrop of Yukon, Okla.; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Schneider. Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. I.C. Medina as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. George Parish Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Immaculate Conception School in Jefferson City.
