Geraldine M. Steffl, 73, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born September 16, 1938, in Adena, Ohio, a daughter of Herman and Helen (Mardis) Jeskey Sr. Geraldine was a graduate of Adena High School and attended Franklin Business College in Columbus, Ohio. On September 10, 1960, Geraldine was united in marriage in Adena, Ohio, to Robert "Bob" Steffl, who survives at their home. She worked as an executive secretary for the State of Ohio and for the UCLA Department of Engineers. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau philanthropic sorority and had volunteered with the Hospice of Williamson County, Illinois. Geraldine loved flowers and gardening, and devoted her life to raising her two children. Other survivors include two children: Tim Steffl and wife Paige of Naperville, Illinois, and Leanne Kelley and husband Dr. James of Danville, Illinois; five grandchildren: Kate Kelley, Patrick Kelley, Andrew Kelley, Alexa Steffl, and Cole Steffl; five brothers: Herman Jeskey of Toledo, Ohio, Richard Jeskey of Roanoke, Virginia, Raymond Jeskey of Adena, Ohio, Bernard Jeskey of New Concord, Ohio, William Jeskey of Adena, Ohio; and one sister, Margie Taggart of Orlando, Florida. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph Chapel with Fr. Clarence E. Wiederholt officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
