Kevin Joseph Kempker, 43, of Jefferson City, died suddenly, Friday, April 20, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born September 28, 1968, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Frank H. Kempker Jr. and Marcella Bax Kempker, who resides at the home. Kevin was employed for the last 25 years at Capitol Projects Inc. - Sheltered Workshop. He was proud of his accomplishment to live independently through the Cole County Special Services Apartment Program. Kevin was a graduate of St. Peter's Vogelweid. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and followed in his dad's footsteps as a member of the Bishop Michael McAuliffe Knights of Columbus Council. For many years he was involved in the Special Olympics, participating in bowling, softball, basketball, and track and field. Along with his siblings, he formed the Marching for Mom Relay for Life Team and participated as a member in honor of his mother. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and spending time with his friends at Friday Night Recreation. Survivors include his mother: Marcella Kempker of Jefferson City; five siblings: Jeffrey Kempker (wife Linda) of Jefferson City, Julie Kempker of Lenexa, Kansas, Vicki Bramer of St. Charles, Kelli Wolters (husband Jeff) of Jefferson City, and Amy Kempker of Jefferson City; and six beautiful nieces and nephews: Cortney Wolters, Ashley Bramer, Jeremy Wolters, Jared Kempker, Kara Bramer and Jamie Kempker, his goddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father: Frank H. Kempker Jr., maternal grandparents: Henry and Bertha Bax; and paternal grandparents: Frank Sr. and Celeste Kempker. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at St. Joseph Cathedral with Fr. Nicholas Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.
