Cody Sparks Marshall, age 20 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. Cody was born June 18, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia the son of James R. and Merry Jayne Sparks Marshall. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Cody was a 2010, graduate of Jefferson City High School. Cody's passion was skateboarding and he was a member of the Columbia Skate Team. Cody enjoyed participating in competitions throughout Missouri and received numerous awards. For Cody, there was never a bad day to skate, and throughout his many trials and tribulations, there was never a cut or bruise that was going to keep him from skating. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Survivors include: his parents, Jim and Merry Marshall of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Brittanny Marshall of Jefferson City, Mo.; niece, Alexa E. Scott; four aunts, and uncles, Sherry Cosier and her husband John of Berkeley, California, Kent Sparks and his wife Mary of the State of Virginia, Sharon Trevathon and her husband Jim of Imperial, Mo., and Tom Marshall and his wife Lisa of Fenton, Mo.; five cousins, Tyler Sparks, Sarah Trevathon, Molly Trevathon, Natalie Marshall, and Audrey Marshall. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Marilyn Sparks and his paternal grandparents, James and Nancy Marshall. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with the Reverend Brian Credille and Susan Jaramillo officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Skateboard Park in care of Jefferson City Parks and Recreation to upgrade the facility in Cody's honor.
