Burdette "Bud" Lewis Frew, 77, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center. He was born on December 15, 1933, in Sterling, Illinois, a son of the late Vincent Burdette and Susan May Knox Frew. He was united in marriage on June 5, 1955, in Lyndon, Illinois, to Byrdie "Kit" Frew. He attended Lyndon Grade School and was a 1951 graduate of Lyndon High School in Lyndon, Illinois. Bud served in the United States Army in Korea from 1956 to 1958. He graduated in 1962 from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. Bud worked for FS Services from 1962 to 1969 and then MFA, Inc. from 1969, where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 1985 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed flying his own planes; boat, auto and airplane racing; trap, skeet, fishing, hunting, traveling, and building autos. He earned an honorary degree from University of Missouri and sat on numerous boards. In addition to his wife Kit, he is survived by one son: Scott Frew of Columbia; one daughter: Suzette Marsch and her husband Michael of Jefferson City; one brother: William Frew of San Diego, California; two sisters: Phyllis Yoder of Phoenix, Arizona, and Pamela Adolph of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; and four grandchildren: Laurie Frew, Madison, McKenzi and Maci Marsch. Friends will be received from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Concord Baptist Church, 3724 West Truman Blvd, Jefferson City, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating, followed by full military honors. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Lyndon Cemetery in Lyndon, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or the Alzheimer's Association.
