Wanda Carrender

Mrs. Wanda L. Carrender, age 80 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center. Wanda was born November 23, 1930, in Tuscumbia, Mo., the daughter of Nile and Irene Duncan Blackburn. She was married on June 10, 1950, in Tuscumbia, Mo., to Alvin Leon Carrender, who preceded her in death on October 20, 1992. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Wanda graduated from Cole County R-5 High School in Eugene, Mo. A homemaker, she was a member of the Hickory Hill Baptist Church in Hickory Hill, Mo. Survivors include: one son, Randy Carrender and his wife Johnna of Henley, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ryan Carrender and his wife Sara of Henley, Mo. and Britney Owens of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Betty Ott of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Charles "Buddy" Blackburn of Eugene, Mo.; and five great-grandsons, Draven Barry Carrender, Traeger Joseph Carrender, Zaiden Randall Carrender, Drake William Owens, and Taylor Lee Surprenant. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon; one son, Alvin Barry Carrender on May 27, 1968; and one sister, Peggy Hager. Visitation will be at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011, at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Hickory Hill, Mo., with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at the Hickory Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Assn.
