Joseph Sylvester Goldman, 88, Kanab, Utah, passed away peacefully August 26, 2011, at his home. He was born in McLeansboro, Ill. on May 6, 1923, son of Oval and Ada (Hood) Goldman. He married Audrey Scott on October 21, 1942, in Boston, Mass. He served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Nevada and lived through many battles including the Invasion of Normandy. Joe was known by all those he came in contact with for his generosity and love of life. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Joe worked for IBM for 37 years and retired in 1984. After retiring, Joe and Audrey traveled the United States, Mexico and Canada in their 5th wheel for over 20 years He is survived by his loving wife Audrey of 68 years; his children, James (Meg) Goldman Jefferson City, Mo., Deborah (Robert) Whitener Jefferson City, Mo., Mary Lou (Doug) Streeter Queen Creek, Ariz., and Sally (Jim) Quinn Kanab, Utah; daughter-in-law, Sharon Goldman Crete, Ill., 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Phillip and Stephen; two brothers, Charles and William; and four sisters, Rozel, Ruth, Mary, and Reva. His celebration of life will be held on September 17, at 4 p.m. at Jim and Sally Quinn's residence, 1081 Grand Canyon Drive Kanab, Utah. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice or American Cancer Society.
