Dorothy Ringeisen

Dorothy Cora Ringeisen, 92, of Owensville, Mo, slipped quietly into her Savior's arms surrounded by her family on Monday, September 12, 2011, at the Gasconade Manor Nursing Home in Owensville. Dorothy was born in St. James on October 26, 1918, the daughter of the late William and Rosa Anna (Hayes) Creek. On November 4, 1934, in Owensville, she was united in marriage to Harrison Ringeisen, who was the love of her life for 59 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bem and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6133. Dorothy was the family matriarch of keeping the family history; sewed quilts, Barbie and doll clothes, made things even without a pattern, crocheted afghans and made panda bears. She volunteered her home for families when theirs were lost to fire; drove people to medical appointments, opened her home to children so they could attend local school. The neighborhood children called her Apple Street address "Kids Corner" as it always had an open door and she welcomed every child that walked through. She loved fishing with her husband even though she didn't like to eat fish. Her survivors include her children, Lloyd Ringeisen of Owensville and Dorothy JoAnn Ringeisen Dickrader of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Teresa Ringeisen of Owensville, Tina Ringeisen Medlock (Steve) of Rosebud, Tracy Jean Ringeisen Behrens (John) of Gerald, Aaron Wallace of Kansas City, Kari Wallace Giesing (Jason) of California, Joseph Ringeisen of St. Louis, Rhea Dickrader of Jefferson City, Desiree Dickrader Shockley (Joe) of Vienna, Melanie Walters (Brent) of Lonedell and Chris Mullenix of Belle; great-grandchildren, Brandi Meyer Lauth (Chris) of Gerald, Roxanne Meyer and fiancee Eric Murphy of Cape Girardeau, Ben Meyer of Owensville, Justin Medlock and Vanessa Medlock both of St. Clair, John Miller Behrens and Gene Behrens both of Gerald, Christopher Giesing of California, Katie Shockley of Wentzville, Bailey McCully and Timothy Shockley both of Vienna, Blake, Chase and Shelby Walters all of Lonedell; great, great-grandchildren, Will and Myla Lauth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison; children, Herbert Eugene "Gene" Ringeisen, Myrna Joyce Ringeisen, Wallace (infant son), Henry Harrison Ringeisen; sisters, Nora Irene Coulter and Hazel Creek; brothers, Isaac Creek, William Creek and Tony Creek. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Pastor Rick Oberle officiating. Burial will be in the Countryside Memorial Gardens. Visitation for the public will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials requested to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary or St. John's United Church of Christ in Bem.
