Earl Carlson Jr. (Veteran)

Earl E. Carlson Jr., age 67, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born June 15, 1944, in St. Joseph, a son of the late Earl E. Sr., and Winifred Maxine Carter Carlson. He was married on November 12, 2010, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Marlene Anderson, who survives at their home. Earl served his Country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. After receiving his discharge, he worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. In the early 1970's, he moved to St. Louis to work for American General. In 1976, he moved to Jefferson City and took a position with Missouri PSRO. He created Carlson and Associates in 1982. He then worked at Missouri Health Care Associates as their Executive Director from 1984 until his retirement in 2005. He and his wife, owned and operated Adams Street Place until January 2011. Earl enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed boating at the Lake of the Ozarks and loved wine and fine dining. He had a passion for being a gentleman farmer and was an avid follower of politics. In addition to his wife Marlene, he is survived by two children, Shelly (John) Stephenson of Jefferson City and Jeffrey Carlson of Des Moines, Iowa; stepson, Bryan (Jessica) Anderson of Jefferson City; one brother, James "Jim" (LuAnn) Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Heather Carlson, Tanner Stephenson, Brandon Carlson, Carter Stephenson, Jadyn Anderson and Ellie Anderson; one great-granddaughter, Maddison Gil, his father-in-law, Daniel Loesch and three nieces. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Carlson and Winifred Carlson; twin granddaughters; also his beloved aunt and uncle, Jessie and A.J. Eisenbarger and his mother-in-law, Martha Loesch. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Lohman. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.
