Jesslyn Marie Dahlstrom

Jesslyn Marie Dahlstrom, 89, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011, at Castleparke II. She was born March 25, 1922, in Columbia, a daughter of Jesse M. and Dr. Evelyn J. (VanWyngarden) Allen. On May 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Dahlstrom, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1982. Jesslyn was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and Central College in Pella, Iowa. She served in the WAAC during World War II. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and GFWC Janus. She worked with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary, as well as a volunteer. Jesslyn is survived by one son: Allen (Glenda) Dahlstrom; four granddaughters: Kim Dahlstrom of Wilmington, North Carolina, Julie Dahlstrom of Lee's Summit, Nicole Dahlstrom of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Stephanie (Justin) Meyer of Lenexa, Kansas; two grandsons: Kenneth Dahlstrom III of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Ryan Mertens of Salt Lake City, Utah; four great- grandchildren: Evelyn and Danielle Shirilla of Wilming-ton, North Carolina and Madelyn and Landon Meyer of Lenexa, Kansas. She was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Dahlstrom II; and a sister: Mary Louise Stoudt. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 5, 2011, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. EthelMae Champ officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
