Stella Cassidy

Mrs. Stella Erlene Cassidy, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at St. Joseph Bluffs. Erlene was born January 11, 1929, in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was married on July 17, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa to Arthur R. Cassidy who preceded her in death on May 12, 1983. A resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 36 years, Erlene owned and operated Erlene's Hallmark in Holts Summit for several years until her retirement in 2006. She had also been employed with Mattingly's Brothers Dime Store and owned Fashion Fabrics Shop, both in Boonville, Mo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Rotary Club. Survivors include: one son, Arthur Gary Cassidy of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Karen Lynne Croy of Marshall, Mo.; three grandchildren, Chris Croy, Jenny Cassidy, and Melissa Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Roy Alan Cassidy and one granddaughter, Abby Michelle Croy. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Russ Bowder officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
