Bernard Joseph Boffa

Bernard Joseph Boffa, 91, of Tebbetts, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born August 21, 1920, in Rhineland, the son of the late Paul Joseph and Clara Katherine (Elsenraat) Boffa. On January 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Vanita Gladys (Zeugin) Hord Boffa, who survives. Bernard attended school in Rhineland and Tebbetts. He served four years in the 130th Field Artillery Battalion in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for International Shoe Company in Fulton and Jefferson City. He then worked for Danuser Machine Company in Fulton. He was raised in the Catholic faith and attended the Tebbetts United Methodist Church. He loved to fish, garden, hunt and was a longtime Cardinal baseball fan. In addition to his wife of 62 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Brenda Davis and husband Ralph of Tebbetts, and Carlene Bates and husband Danny of Holts Summit; one step-son, George Hord and wife Kay of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Nancy Hord, Tim Hord, Melissa Hord, Ben Davis, Amanda Locke and Lauralee Davis; three great- grandchildren, Jacob Hord, Joshua Hord and Leslie Locke; and one sister, Imelda Smith of Tebbetts. His parents, three brothers, Otto Boffa, Paul (Dippy) Boffa and Frank Boffa, and three sisters, Sister Ethel Marie (Ida) Boffa, Loretta Burre and Viola Wilson, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, with Reverend Joseph Frana and Reverend Kay Hord officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City.
