Carol Ann Pleus, 68, of Taos, went to be with Jesus in heaven, Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 12, 1943, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ivo J. and Josephine Ortmeyer Frank. On October 17, 1964, she was united in marriage in Taos to Dave Pleus. He survives at the home. She attended St. Peter Elementary School and was a 1961 graduate of Helias High School. She went on to attend St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. In 1965, Carol and her husband Dave opened Dave's Tavern and Service Station, where she was affectionately known as "Miss Kitty". They owned and operated this until 1995. She also worked for Dr. Gurney, Cole County Health Department and Mid Missouri Anesthesia Consultants as a registered nurse. Carol enjoyed gardening, picking pecans and spending time at the Osage River with her family. She spent more than 15 years playing on the Houser-Millard Ladies Bowling Team at Rainbow Lanes. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their ball games. Including her husband Dave, she is survived by four children: Jodi Reinkemeyer, husband Dale of Taos, Shelie Thessen, husband Paul of Dardienne Prairie, Missouri, Alan D. Pleus, wife Tanya of Taos and Julie Wilbers husband Ben of Taos; five siblings: John Frank of Fulton, Kathy Parris of Jefferson City, Bill Frank wife Debbie of New Bloomfield, Jim Frank wife Brenda of Taos and Janice Troesser husband Jerry of Frankenstein; and nine grandchildren: Joe Reinkemeyer, Cayci Reinkemeyer, Jack Thessen, Will Thessen, Josh Wilbers, Kaitlyn Wilbers, Hannah Wilbers, Cody Pleus and Bo Pleus. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Evans; one brother-in-law, Bob Parris; and one sister-in-law, Betty Rackers. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011, at the Taos Knights of Columbus Hall with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic School or the Children's Miracle Network, which has been very helpful in providing special assistance for Carol's granddaughter, Hannah.
