Thomas Harold Sublett

Thomas Harold Sublett, age 84, died Tuesday, October 12, 2011, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. The youngest of six children born to William and Clara (Chandler) Sublett in Columbia, Missouri, Mr. Sublett was raised on the family farm in Boone County. He graduated from University High School in 1945, and then attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry in 1949. A year later he married the love of his life, Lois, and moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, where he worked for the Noble Foundation. In the subsequent 10 years, he lived in Rolla where he worked for the Missouri Bureau of Mines. He then relocated his family to the St. Louis area where he worked for the Atomic Energy Commission at Mallinckrodt Chemical Company. When Chesebrough Ponds opened a new plant in Jefferson City in 1966, Mr. Sublett began his 21 year career with them. Upon retirement in 1987, Mr. Sublett returned from Connecticut to the Lake of the Ozarks where he lived until permanently retiring to Melbourne Beach, Florida in the early 1990s. Mr. Sublett was a member of the Chapel by the Sea Church in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Lois (McCallister) Sublett; his brother, Albert W.; his sons, Gary and Anthony Sublett; his daughters, Vicki Sublett, Michele Smith and Valerie Shippers; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Nick, and Kitrell Sublett, Lyndsey Wilson, Chandler Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Gracie Wilson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Howe; and three brothers, Robert H., William H. , and Wilfred Norris 'Doc'.
