Anita Gilbert

Anita Elizabeth Gilbert, 91, Jefferson City, formerly of Joplin, died Monday, October 3, 2011, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born on November 1, 1919, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of the late Samuel and Jenny Gerder Ban. She was a graduate of Horace Mann High School in Kansas City. She was united in marriage on August 19, 1941, in Kansas City, to Harold Emry who preceded her in death on April 30, 1994. On May 25, 1998, in Joplin, she married John Gilbert who preceded her in death on November 24, 2005. A homemaker, Anita also worked in sales for Howards Ladies Wear and Montgomery Ward. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church. Survivors include: one daughter, Sandy Allen, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Angie (Wade) Ruddock, Shawn (Bess) Allen; and four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Kate Ruddock, and Harper and Boone Allen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Ban. A celebration of Anita's life will be held at a later date. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
