Mrs. Marcelline C. Raithel, age 87 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, October 1, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. Marcelline was born April 6, 1924, in Vienna, Mo., the daughter of Ben X. and Emma T. Renkemeyer Stratman. She was married on November 28, 1948, in Vienna, Mo. to Alvin J. Raithel, who preceded her in death on August 3, 2003. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Marcelline attended Visitation Catholic School in Vienna, Mo. A homemaker, she had been employed in the Jefferson City Defense Plant during World War II. She was a member of St. Peter Church; the Ladies Sodality; the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wyman Baysinger Post 35. She and her husband had been volunteers with Meals on Wheels for 16 years. Marcelline enjoyed playing bingo, doing puzzles, but most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include: four sons, David J. Raithel and his wife Linda of Russellville, Mo., Douglas B. Raithel and his wife Deborah of Lohman, Mo., Kevin J. Raithel of Russellville, Mo., and Carl A. Raithel of Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Emily Ann Raithel of Jefferson City, Mo., Christine M. Gerstner and her husband Larry of Jefferson City, Mo., and Brenda K. Weidinger and her husband Joe of Vienna, Mo.; two sisters, Helen Bocklage and her husband Charles of Florissant, Mo. and Pat Wall and her husband Tony of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Cellus Stratman and his wife Evelyn of Vienna, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, two step- grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, four step-great- grandchildren, and one great- grandchild due in November, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Arthur Stratman, Walter Stratman, Eugene Stratman, Paul Stratman, and A.J. Stratman; and one sister, Rosemary Stratman. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2011, with a prayer service to be conducted at 3:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at St. Peter Church with the Reverend Francis Doyle officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Peter Church Building Fund or the Cole County Senior Nutrition Program.
