Ladene Phillips

Ladene Phillips, 93, of California, Mo., passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Moniteau Care Center. She was born on August 27, 1918, in Moniteau County, Mo., the daughter of John Oliver and Pearl (Crawford) Jenkins, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on June 7, 1941, to Kenneth Burl Phillips who preceded her in death on January 2, 1996. She attended school through the eighth grade at Norman School, and was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, where she always enjoyed the Ladies Day's Out. She worked as a machine operator for California Manufacturing Company. She loved to spend her time sewing and making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved cooking and baking and was an avid birdwatcher. She is survived by one son, Kenneth W. Phillips and wife Carolyn of California; three grandchildren, Patrick Phillips, Kendra Witthaus and husband Mark, and Julie Trimble and husband Mike, all of California; nine great-grandchildren, Paige, PJ and Samantha, all children of Patrick; Madisyn, Josh, Jordyn and Kannon, children of Kendra and Mark; and Annastyn and Eli, both children of Julie and Mike. She was also preceded in death by eight sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church in McGirk. Burial will be in Sappington Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Spurling and Rev. Carl Edwards. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
