James E. "Jim" Wilhoit, 76, of Eldon, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. On February 27, 1935, he was born in Rural Hall, North Carolina to the late Dale V. and Lillain (Robinson) Wilhoit. James was married to Shirley Ann (Roberts) Wilhoit and she preceded him in death on May 19, 1983. On May 15, 1993, he was married in Eldon, to Linda (Wise)Howser Wilhoit, who survives of the home. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed with Union Electric as a laborer, lineman and construction supervisor retiring June 1, 1993. He was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church, the Elks Lodge and former member of the Lions Club. He was scout master for Troop 14 for several years. James was an RV, camping and NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed music and spending time with his family and numerous friends. Survivors include: Sons and daughters-in-law, Eric S. and Claire Wilhoit of Eldon, Corby Dean and Renate Wilhoit of Eschenbach, Germany, Toby Arthur and Shelley Wilhoit of Jefferson City, and Thomas Clay and Andrea Wilhoit of Blues Springs; daughter, Valeri Lynn Kelly of Summerfield, Ill.; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Steve M. and Stacy Howser of Madison, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Jane Wilhoit of Tampa, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Rondall Smith of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Cathi Wilhoit of St. Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tracy Wilhoit. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. at the Aurora Springs Baptist Church near Eldon, with the Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Dearing officiating. At the family's request, memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to the Aurora Springs Baptist Church. His body has been cremated and private interment will be held at a later date.
