Melvin Saucier

Mr. Melvin C. "Bud" Saucier, age 90 years, of St. Charles, Mo., a former Jefferson City resident, died Sunday, November 13, 2011, at the St. Joseph Health Care Center, St. Charles, Mo. Bud was born September 3, 1921, in Anaconda, Mo., the son of Eugene F. and Emma Elizabeth Hammer Saucier. He was married on December 6, 1941, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Georgia M. Burks. Bud served in the United States Army prior to World War II and in the United States Navy during World War II. He recently visited the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. on an honor flight. Bud and Georgia owned and operated Saucier Trucking in Canton, Mo. from 1961 until 1982. He was a 50-year member and past master of the Mexico Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. and a member of the White Shrine in Mexico, Mo. Melvin was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Missouri Tiger fan. Survivors include: his wife of 70 years, Georgia Saucier; one daughter, Linda Lage and her husband Stephen of Weldon Spring, Mo.; one son, James L. "Jim" Saucier and his wife Talley of Bowling Green, Mo.; one sister, Onetta "Sis" Cardwell of Holts Summit, Mo.; one brother, Charles Saucier and his wife Norma of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Christopher Stephen Lage and his wife Kristy, Douglas Corbit Lage, and James Talley Saucier; and one great-grandson, Gavin K. Lage. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Hazel Puckett, June Goodin, Betty J. Willmeno McKim, and Marjorie Saucier; and two brothers, Bernard Saucier and Don Saucier. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. in the Freeman Chapel under the auspices of the Jefferson Lodge No. 43, A.F. & A.M. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with Elder Chris Gamm officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be conducted at the Mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to an honor flight organization for veterans to travel to Washington, D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial or the charity of their choice.
