Marylyn Marie Hobbs Smith, age 71 years, of Lake Ozark, Mo., passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home. Marylyn was born on October 17, 1940, in San Diego, Calif., the only child of Gottlieb Arnsdorf "Dottie" and Madge Marie (Ritter) Cohen. She was married on December 31, 1996, in Jefferson City, Mo., to David M. Smith. A resident of Jefferson City for many years, she also lived in the Kansas City area and was raised in Clinton, Mo. She graduated from Clinton High School. A homemaker for the majority of her life, Marylyn was employed with the Division of Employment Security for many years. She later served as the Manager of the Elks Lodge in Jefferson City. Marylyn loved to travel and to spend time with her family. She especially loved being with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Jefferson City Elks Lodge, and involved with many other charities. Survivors include: her husband, David Smith; one daughter, Linda Taylor and her husband John of Holts Summit; one son, Jim Hobbs and his wife Beth of Jefferson City; one stepson, Jeff Smith and his wife Roxie of Hams Prairie; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Eichelberger and her husband Troy of Centertown, and Rachael Allan and her husband Michael of Bentonville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Malinda Reed and her husband Ryan, Daniel Hobbs, Zachary Hobbs, Shannon Barnard, Kelsey Barnard, Michael Barnard, Jake Smith, Drew Eichelberger, Lilli Eichelberger, Gabi Allan and Carter Allan; one great-grandchild, Sophie Reed; and one great-grandchild expected in April 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with Carey Terry officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery.
