Mr. Richard P. Dudenhoeffer, age 67 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Golden Living Center. Richard was born August 13, 1944, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Charles G. Sr. and Pauline Schmitz Dudenhoeffer. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Richard was a 1962 graduate of Helias High School. Richard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed as a salesman with McKay Motors for many years and later as the manager of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; a member of the Knights of Columbus; and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003. Richard was raised in the Catholic faith. He had been known to enjoy bowling and golfing, but in recent years his real love was caring for his Boston Terrier dogs. Survivors include: three brothers, Charles G. Dudenhoeffer Jr. of Jefferson City, Mo., David L. Dudenhoeffer and his wife Dorothy of Jefferson City, Mo., and Fred J. Dudenhoeffer of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Jewel, his Boston Terrier. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Karen Dudenhoeffer; one sister-in-law, Janice Dudenhoeffer; and Diamond, his Boston Terrier. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011, with a prayer service to be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2011, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Francis Doyle officiating. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be held at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter or the Capital Region Medical Foundation.
