Edwin Alan Mackey, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born on June 26, 1952, in Jefferson City, Missouri, a son of the late George Edwin and Hazel Pauline Jones Mackey. He attended Belle High School and Linn Tech. He and his father previously worked together driving a gasoline truck for Transport and Delivery for many years out of Belle. He was a previous foreman for HVW Pumps. He was a plant manager for Bassett Bedding in Tipton and he worked at the Callaway Nuclear Plant as a tower crane operator. He also worked for Jefferson Asphalt. For numerous years he was a bartender at River City and Mr. Bill's. He loved spending time restoring old trucks, hunting and fishing. Edwin also belonged to the Labors Union and Operating Engineers Union. He is survived by his two sons: Blake Mackey of Jefferson City and Jaret Mackey Shanks of Belle; his two sisters: Bonnie Stoner of Carrolton and Mariam Craddock (Wayne) of Jefferson City; his life long friend: Candy "Sam" Mackey; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4930 Old Lohman Road, Jefferson City. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family of Edwin Mackey, in care of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
