Leo H. Kliethermes

Leo H. Kliethermes, age 93, of St. Elizabeth, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Care Center. He was born in St. Elizabeth, on August 19, 1917, son of the late Matt and Genovefa (Jaegers) Kliethermes. On April 19, 1947, in St. Elizabeth, Leo married Lorraine Mary Volmert, who survives at the home. Leo was a farmer and worked construction in the St. Elizabeth area for many years. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Men Sodality and the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. He is also survived by seven children, Kenneth Kliethermes and wife Sharon of Linn, Janice Kissinger and husband Charles of Union, Dorathey Herx and husband Jerry of St. Anthony, Mildred Herzing and husband David of Freeburg, Karen Pigg and husband Keith of St. Elizabeth, Virgil Kliethermes of St. Elizabeth, and Victor Kliethermes of St. Elizabeth; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Luebbert of St. Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kylee Kliethermes; five brothers, Ray Kliethermes, Norbert Kliethermes, Walter Kliethermes, Albert Kliethermes, and Herbert Kliethermes; and one sister, Emma Kliethermes. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday, May 23, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Lawrence Cemetery or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.
