Mary Wanda Krautmann

Mary Wanda Krautmann, 89, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on October 9, 1921, in Vidalia, La., the daughter of the late Hugh James and Annette Josephine Brouillette Knight. Wanda was a 1938 graduate of Ferriday High School in Louisiana. In 1941 she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest University in Lafayette, Louisiana. She also received her Nursing degree from Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1944. Wanda was a 1st Lieutenant with the United States Army serving during World War II as a Field Unit Nurse in Europe. She was united in marriage on September 9, 1945, in Ferriday, La., to Hubert Joseph Krautmann, who preceded her in death on July 3, 2007. After returning from Europe and marrying her husband, Wanda worked as a registered nurse with St. Mary's Health Center and Still Hospital. She retired from St. Joseph Home in 1985, as Director of Nursing. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Registered Nurses Association. Survivors include three children: Dr. John (Chris) Krautmann, Jefferson City; Dr. Paul (Suzanne) Krautmann, Keene, N.H.; Kevin (Sharon) Krautmann, St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren: James (Andrea) Krautmann, Meghan (Brian) Riley, Brett Krautmann, Lauren Krautmann, Kurt Krautmann, Katherine (John) Houston, Charles (Danielle) Krautmann, Ted (Chelsea) Krautmann, Joshua (Emily) Krautmann, Matthew (Allison) Krautmann; and nine great-grandchildren: Samuel Krautmann, Jane Krautmann, Damien Krautmann, Kate Krautmann, Nolan Riley, Penelope Riley, Lucy Houston, William Houston, and Harris Krautmann. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, at St. Peter Catholic Church, with the Rev. Francis W. Doyle officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
