Angela F. Mengwasser

Angela F. Mengwasser, 90, of Lohman, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, at her home. She was born September 22, 1920, in Argyle, a daughter of the late Fred and Gertrude (Hagenhoff) Bock. On November 8, 1943, she was united in marriage in Freeburg, to Ignatius P. Mengwasser, who preceded her in death on February 11, 2004. She was a homemaker and also worked for Quaker Window and Tweedie Shoe Factory. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, the Western Catholic Union, and the American Legion Post 317 Ladies Auxiliary in Freeburg. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and cooking fried chicken every Sunday. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She is survived by three daughters: Susie Wibberg of Jefferson City, Diane Dudenhoeffer and husband David of Jefferson City, and Judy McFarland and husband Robin of Lohman; two sons: Jimmy Mengwasser and wife Joan of Freeburg and Larry Mengwasser and wife Stacia of Holts Summit; one sister: Henrietta Petzold of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren: Samantha Berhorst of Taos, Bruce Wibberg of Jefferson City, Scott Wibberg of Jefferson City, Janis Surface of Jefferson City,; Greg Mengwasser of Freeburg, Jennifer Hess of New Bloomfield, Bill Dudenhoeffer of Taos, Max Mengwasser of Westphalia, John Dudenhoeffer of Jefferson City, Casey McFarland of Topeka, Kan., Tara Mengwasser of Holts Summit, and Cassie Mengwasser of Holts Summit; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson: Eric McFarland; and a son-in-law: Linus Wibberg. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Hilke-Millard Funeral Home in Westphalia, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, with Fr. Philip E. Niekamp officiating. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Holy Family School; SSM Hospice; or charity of the donor's choice.
