Darryl R. Burnett, 60, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. He was born September 16, 1950, in Jefferson City, the son of Harold Lloyd and Bonnie Lou (Dalley) Burnett. He was a 1968 graduate of Jefferson City High School and a 2003 graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, with a B.S. in Marketing. On June 21, 2003, Darryl was united in marriage in Jefferson City at Binder Lake at sunset to Sherrie Koechling-Burnett, who survives at their home. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. He had been a member of both the West Side and East Side Business Associations, and had served as the President for each. He had also been a member of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador and Leadership Committee, Jefferson City Host Lions Club, A.F. & A.M. Jefferson Lodge #43 Masonic 32nd degree with over 25 years as a member, and Scottish Rite in the Valley of Columbia, and the American Legion Post 5. He had also been a member of the Missouri National Guard. He had been employed with Safeway Grocery, KJMO/KWOS Radio Stations, Premier Marketing, and finished his career with Cumulus Broadcasting over the past seven years. Along with his wife Sherrie, Darryl is also survived by his mother; three sons, Matthew D. Burnett and his wife Kaylyn S. Sonius-Burnett of Jefferson City, Joshua R. Burnett of Jefferson City, - both sons of Linda N. Burnett of Holts Summit; and Kristopher C. Andrae of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Randall M. Burnett and his wife Janice of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Kyla Sonius and Mattilyn Burnett; one uncle, Richard Burnett of Jefferson City; one aunt, Margie Mantle of Jefferson City; two nephews, Christopher Burnett and Randall Burnett II; one niece, Emily Burnett; and six cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin H. Andrae. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, Jefferson City, with Rev. Shane Crum officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Houser Millard Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Organ Fund, American Cancer Society, or the charity of the donors choice.
