Roger Lee Feaster, age 75, of Lee's Summit, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011. He was born in Palmyra, to Sam and Willa Feaster on April 23, 1935, and after high school, married his childhood love, Marilyn Ravenscraft on Thanksgiving Day of 1954. Having received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla, Roger served in the 5th Army Corps of Engineers. In 1964, he accepted a commission to the United States Air Force with the Air National Guard and later retiring with a rank of Lt. Colonel from the Iowa National Guard in 1985. While at UMR, he played quarterback and defensive back for the University of Missouri at Rolla Miner's football team, as well as track team where he was a four year letterman in both football and track. In 1989, he was inducted into the UMR Hall of Fame. He enjoyed a long career, primarily in sales, retiring from AON Corporation in 1999 as Vice President of Sales. He was also a licensed Professional Engineer. Roger was a longtime member of Oakwood Baptist Church, where he served as Past Chairman of the Deacons, Financial Secretary, and Senior Adult Ministry Director. He was a founding member and past president (1977 and 1978) of the West Rotary Club of Jefferson City. He was a member of the Ararat Shrine of Kansas City and also a Mason. He recently served as a chaperon for World War II veterans for the Honor Flight Network. His love of family and church were paramount in his life, with his love of his hunting dogs following close behind. He was an avid sports fan and particularly loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Marilyn Feaster; son, Jeff Feaster and wife Becky of Houston, Texas; daughter, Jan Key and husband Denning of Tyler, Texas; brother, Don Feaster and wife Betty of Port Orange, Fla.; granddaughters, Missy Feaster Roode and husband Charlie of California, Libby Feaster of Houston, Texas, Kathryn McKellar, Sarah McKellar and Frances Key, all of Tyler, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, March 24, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit. Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church, 7600 Lee's Summit Road, Kansas City, MO. Later in the day, a military service and burial will be in Palmyra at 4:00 p.m.
