Norma "Jean" Vaughan, 78, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born October 19, 1932, in Meta, daughter of the late Leo G. and Teresa M. (Reinsch) Grafe. She was a 1950 graduate of Meta High School in Meta. On November 23, 1950, Jean was united in marriage to Harold James Vaughan, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2010. Jean worked for the State of Missouri for 35 years. She started working for the Missouri Department of Revenue in 1957 and worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. Jean enjoyed reading, cross stitching and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She is survived by two daughters: Shirley Blake and her husband Steve of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Sheila Allen and her husband John of Vienna; four grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley, Corey, and Dustin; four step-grandchildren: Bryan, Steve, Albert, and Aaron; and two great-granddaughters: Isabelle and Bailey. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one sister: Geraldine Eveler in 2002; and two brothers: Elmer Grafe in 1972 and Raymond Grafe in 2008. Friends will be received from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service to be held at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor David D. Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
