Jack Purnell, 73, of Clarksburg, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born on December 17, 1937, in Old Franklin, Mo., the son of James Purnell and Mildred (Coy) Purnell, both whom preceded him in death. He enjoyed working on small engines and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. As we all know, he loved most visiting with family and friends, telling stories and making us laugh. He was employed as a painter his whole life including Double B Painting and Purnell & Sons Painting. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1958, and was also a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by three sons, Jackie Keith Purnell Jr. of Staton Island, N.Y.; Larry Joe Gish of Bunceton, Mo.; Billy Jack Purnell of Clarksburg; four daughters, Teresa Talley of Fayetteville, Ark.; Betty Leautuhauser of St. Roberts, Mo.; Sherry Jo Cotton of Clarksburg; Melissa Williams of California; four brothers, Donald Purnell of Spotsvania, Va.; Bill Purnell of Ulysees, Kan.; Joe Dawson of Platte City, Mo.; Coy Dawson of Fulton, Mo.; seven sisters, Pat Coarser of Lebanon, Mo.; Kathy Thompson of Lake Ozark, Mo.; Mary Lee Rowels of Tipton, Mo.; Shirley Young of Kansas City, Mo.; Sandy Wood of Riverside, Calif.; Barbara Proctor of Tipton, Mo.; and Tink Meyers of Jefferson City, Mo.; 19 grandchildren, and 15 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2011, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
