Richard C. Dunn, age 74, of Springfield, Mo., died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis after battling cancer. Dick spent his lifetime championing the cause of underprivileged, at-risk children and seniors. He was executive director of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri (BGTM) for 29 years, and also served as head of the state's Health and Senior Services. At the time of his death he was chairman of The Arc of the Ozarks Board of Directors in Springfield. He served as chair of the Children's Trust Fund board and was president of The Foundation, Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Inc. He is survived by Jane, his wife; their two sons, Michael and David along with their wives, Libby and Amy; grandchildren, Jillian, Ricky and Tori, all of Springfield. Other survivors include: Gerald Dunn, his brother, and Mary Dunn, sister-in-law, of Carlinville, Ill., and four nephews, Richard, Aaron, Noel and Garred and their families; Jane's aunt, Vialta Wright of Mountain Grove; cousin, Sammy Allen and her husband Bud of Lebanon, and Jane's brother, Ed Thomas and his wife Caroline and their family. A sharing of memories of Richard C. Dunn will be from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 19 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center, Drury University, Springfield.
