C. Max Savage, 97, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 14, 1913, in Durham, Kansas, a son of Charles William and Grace Albert Savage. On October 19, 1935, Max was united in marriage at the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel, Kansas, to Martha Unrau, who preceded him in death. Max lived in Warrensburg for 40 years, where he was employed as an auto body repair foreman for Jerry Tally Motors until his retirement. During that time he was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In Jefferson City, Max made his home at the Hyder Apartments where he was a much loved member of the Hyder community. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters: Carol Beach and husband Carl of Jefferson City, and Janet Comer and husband Walter of Kansas City; three grandchildren: Barry Beach and wife Paula of Jefferson City, Robin Steinhaus and husband Charley of Hartsburg, and Isaac Comer and wife Carol of Kansas City; and nine great-grandchildren: Alexis, Jordan, Margaret and Madelyn Beach and Diana, Michael, Gregg, Sydney and Daniel Comer. He was preceded in death by one brother, Adrian Savage, and one sister, Beth Brown. Max was truly cherished by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was a true gentleman, a man of faith who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Friends will be received from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Russ Bowder and Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Central Missouri Food Bank, 2101 Vandiver Drive, Columbia, MO 65202; or the Samaritan Center, 1310 E.
